Third-Party Food Safety Audits
This voluntary program, operated in conjunction with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), allows growers, packers and shippers of fresh produce to verify to buyers that they are growing harvesting, packing, and shipping their product in a safe and sanitary manner.
Fresh Produce Audit Verification Program
State departments of agriculture, with USDA's assistance, have developed an audit-based program that is helping the U.S. produce industry verify voluntary adherence to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Guide to Minimize Microbial Food Safety Hazards for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables. Click here to access a table showing companies that have applied for a Good Agricultural Practices/Good Handling Practices audit for their processes and commodities.
