Promises Made Promises Kept

tan_square "I made a promise to put an end to annoying telemarketing calls - we did it - establishing the strongest do not call list in the nation."

Consumer Protections for New Jersey Families

New Jersey families work hard every day. They should not have to worry about unscrupulous business practices, unwanted sales calls, or having to wait all day for service.

  • New Jersey now has the toughest "Do Not Call" list in the nation to end intrusive telemarketing calls.
  • We put an end to deceptive lending practices that exploit the misfortune of others with high interest rates, outrageous fees and unaffordable repayment terms.
  • Established new measures to give cable television customers better service. These include; eliminating open-ended service appointments, requiring that customers speak to a service representative within 30 seconds, and issuing credit for outages of 3 hours or more.
  • Signed legislation providing greater protection against identity theft. Residents who suffer personal and financial losses are now able to sue to recover their losses and restore their credit.
  • Created a new Consumer Bill of Rights and Buyer's Guide for purchasing auto insurance, helping drivers choose the most appropriate, and properly priced level of coverage.
