Live Long, Live Well Walking Program

Health & Wellness

The Live Long, Live Well Walking Program for New Jersey's older adults (age 50 or older) and people with disabilities encourages increasing physical activity to reduce the risk of chronic disease.

  • Logbooks, walking tips, benefits of physical activity, maps, existing walking clubs and community packets are available at no charge. A web page tracks the miles walked by participants in each county quarterly.
  • Older adults who walk at least 1 to 2 miles a day, four days a week for twelve weeks receive a Certificate of Accomplishment signed by the Governor.
  • As of August 2007, 1500 NJ older adults have logged in 353,971 miles, with 19 of New Jersey's 21 counties reporting.
  • Twenty-five walking clubs are listed with contact information and times and locations for walks.
