Help with Prescription Drugs

Consumer Reports Best Buy Drugs
http://www.crbestbuydrugs.org

Consumer Reports Best Buy Drugs is a public education project of Consumers Union, the publisher of Consumer Reports. Consumers Union is an expert, independent, nonprofit organization whose mission is to work for a fair, just, and safe marketplace and to empower consumers as they buy products and services. The mission of the Consumer Reports Best Buy Drugs project is to provide consumers and their doctors with information to help guide prescription drug choices–based on effectiveness, a drug's track record, safety and price.

The project aims to improve access to needed medicines for tens of millions of Americans—because they lack insurance coverage for prescription drugs, because the prices of many medicines today are so high, and because many consumers and physicians may not be aware of proven and affordable alternatives.

Medicare Prescription Drug Programs
http://www.medicare.gov

This is the Prescription Drug and Other Assistance Programs section of www.Medicare.gov. This section provides information on public and private programs that offer discounted or free medication, programs that provide help with other health care costs, and Medicare health plans that include prescription coverage. It also provides information on even more ways you can reduce your prescription drug costs.

The registry helps consumers compare retail prices charged by many pharmacies for the 150 most frequently prescribed medications.

Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled (PAAD)
www.nj.gov/health/seniorbenefits/paad.shtml

PAAD is a program that assists eligible New Jersey residents to pay for their prescription medicines with a co-pay of $5.00 for each covered prescription. Enrollment in this program provides access to additional benefits.

Senior Gold
http://www.nj.gov/health/seniorbenefits/seniorgold.shtml

Senior Gwww.nj.govold provides a new tier of eligibility under the PAAD program by extending eligibility income limits. The co-pay for covered prescriptions is $15.00 plus one-half the cost of the covered prescription. Prescription costs exceeding $2,000 for a single person, or $3,000 for a couple will be fully covered with only the $15.00 co-pay.

Pharmacy Checker.Com
http://www.pharmacychecker.com

This site collects, evaluates, and reports credentials, prices, and customer feedback regarding online pharmacies. You can compare prices of products offered by online pharmacies. It rates online pharmacies, determines if they are licensed or not, and if the sites maintain security of your financial and personal information. For example, this organization determined that 50% of online pharmacies are not licensed. To obtain this information you must subscribe to PharmacyChecker.com at $24.95/year.
