Purpose: The Improving Teacher Quality Partnership grant program (ITQP), Title II Part A, Subpart 3 of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) provides subgrants on a competitive basis to eligible partnerships comprised of institutions of higher education (IHEs) and high-need local education agencies (LEAs.) The purpose of these funds is to improve student academic achievement by conducting professional development activities in the core academic subjects in order to ensure that highly qualified teachers, highly qualified paraprofessionals and, if appropriate, principals/assistant principals have the subject matter knowledge in the academic subjects they teach, or in computer-related technology, to enhance instruction. This Notice of Grant Opportunity (NGO) is for Year Three of a three-year continuation grant program. The Year Three project period begins September 1, 2008 and ends August 31, 2009.

Eligible Agencies: The eligible candidates for FY 2008, Year Three of this continuation grant are limited to the six agencies that were awarded funding in Years One and Two. These eligible agencies and their LEA partners are listed in the NGO document.
