Mercer County Superintendent of Schools Office
The executive county superintendent of schools supervises and administers the county office of education as a representative of the Commissioner of Education. The county superintendent provides leadership in educational planning and program improvement to local school districts and is responsible for the coordination and approval of fiscal, educational facility and transportation services within the county.
Major responsibilities of the Mercer County Office of Education, under the direction of the executive county superintendent of schools, are as follows:

- teacher, educational services & administrator license processing
- education law and code review , interpretation and enforcement
- evaluation and on-going monitoring of school districts
- striving for a seamless education with appropriate transition points
- pupil transportation contract review and approval

- facility inspections and approval
- criminal background check review and monitoring
- county substitute credentials review and approval
- grants management review and notification
- board/trustee memberships by statute on:
