June-24-09 Mercer County Seeks Residents to Serve on Boards and Commissions

TRENTON, N.J.—Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes said today the County is seeking residents to serve in volunteer capacities on various Boards and Commissions.
The County’s 15 Boards and Commissions are comprised of residents who work in the public and private sectors as well as nonprofits and who use their experience in their own career fields to help direct and advise the County in serving the specific needs of the population.
“Perhaps our greatest asset is the diversity of people who live and work in Mercer County,” said Hughes. “We need to tap this resource and give back to our community. By serving on one of our Boards and Commissions, you can help make a difference.”
Those interested in serving must be approved by both the Administration and the Board of Chosen Freeholders and are typically appointed to three-year terms. Most boards and commissions meet monthly.
