June-27-09 2009 Freedom Festival at Mercer County Park ushers in Independence Day Celebrations

WEST WINDSOR, N.J.—Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes today announced the annual Mercer County Freedom Festival will be held in conjunction with popular radio station 94.5 WPST on Saturday, June 27.
The festival, which has grown increasingly popular each year, will be held at Mercer County Park in West Windsor from 3 to 11 p.m. Freedom Festival is also the earliest Fourth of July celebration in the area.
The Freedom Festival features a stellar lineup of live music, food, rides, crafts and games, and culminates with a fireworks display at nightfall.. New offerings this year include laser tag and a quoits pit.
“The Freedom Festival gets better each year, thanks to our lead sponsor, WPST, and we are so pleased that it has become an anticipated attraction,” said Hughes. “Our Mercer County Park is better than ever and I invite everyone to come to this family event.”
A variety of food and beverage vendors, local breweries and wineries, and craft vendors will be on hand, as well as children’s entertainment like inflatable rides, animal exhibits, a petting zoo, and agricultural displays by the 4-H Club.
The concert lineup starts at 3 p.m. with Princeton School of Rock, followed by Split Decision at 5 p.m., the Amish Outlaws at 7 p.m., and The Dawgs at 10 p.m. One of the area’s best fireworks displays begins at approximately 9:15 p.m.
