TRENTON, N.J. - The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) in Mercer County will officially close for the season on April 29, announced County Executive Brian M. Hughes.

Next week during the final week, the Mercer County Housing and Community Development office will offer extended office hours. Clients will be accepted from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from Monday, April 25 to Friday, April 29, the final day to apply for assistance.

To apply, please contact the Mercer County Housing and Community Development Office at (609) 989-6858 or 989-6959 or visit the Office on the fourth floor of the County Administration Building at 640 South Broad Street.

Individuals meeting various income qualifications can continue to apply for bill payment assistance, energy crisis assistance, and energy-related home repairs until Friday, April 29, 2011.

Monies are from the federally funded Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), and funding levels are established annually. The County’s Weatherization and Universal Service Fund programs are year-round.
