- When loved ones are thrust into the role of providing care for chronically ill family or friends, they are often not psychologically prepared for the stress that can result.  Feelings of guilt, depression, and anxiety are common among caregivers.  Often they pour their energy into caring for elderly loved ones at the expense of their own mental health.

However, caregivers deserve care of their own, and so the Mercer County Connection is proud to announce the “Education and Support Group for Caregivers of Seniors with Chronic Health Problems,” led by Caregiver Specialist Barbara Stender of Greater Trenton Behavioral Healthcare.  Topics and discussion will focus on maximizing resources, enhanced coping skills, building relationships with peers, and increasing care giving competence.

The group will meet Wednesdays from 1:30-3p.m., beginning June 6 and ending October 31.  To learn about specific dates and topics, or to register, please call the Mercer County Connection at (609) 890-9800.
