TRENTON, N.J. - The Mercer County Park Commission is excited to announce the development of its new weekend nature program series for children, Outdoor Adventures.  These nature programs are intended for children who have a natural curiosity for the outdoors.  Outdoor Adventures will begin this February.

Outdoor Adventures will be held on Saturdays, February 23, March 23, April 20, and May 18 and is open to children ages 6 to 9. With the guidance of the County Naturalist, children will broaden their knowledge of nature while dissecting frozen logs, exploring vernal pools and searching for springtime amphibians.  Participants will hike through Mercer Meadow’s fields and forest and become acquainted with its various plants and wildlife.

Each program includes adventure play, an outdoor hike and nature journaling.  Outdoor Adventures runs from 10 a.m. to noon and meets at the Hunt House in the Rosedale Park section of Mercer Meadows.  Registration is required and each program costs $10.  Children can attend one or all programs.

To register your child for Outdoor Adventures, please contact Mercer County Naturalist Jenn Rogers at jrogers@mercercounty.org or call 609-303-0706.
