A reorganization and expansion of services by the New Jersey Civil Service Commission will improve and enhance the customer service we provide to employees, employers and the public. The evolving reorganizations are part of the ongoing statewide effort to reform government to be more efficient and accountable to the taxpayers.
The Division of Merit System Practice and Labor Relations under the Direction of Henry Maurer has been reorganized to include the ongoing program pilots related to current practices and rules of personnel selection and management. The Division will continue its efforts to cut red tape and retool the regulated human resource practices of Civil Service jurisdictions. In keeping with this expanded responsibility the Division will be renamed the Division of Appeals and Regulatory Affairs.
For State government to provide the very best service possible, we must attract the best and brightest of New Jersey's residents to public employment. Daniel Hill will assume the new title Director of Selection Services and Recruitment and oversee the development and execution of an outreach program to attract those highly qualified candidates.
Title Consolidation, reclassification and customer service improvements will continue to be primary foci of the New Jersey Civil Service Commission. The Division of State and Local Operations was recently renamed Classification and Personnel Management. In keeping with that change Kenneth Connolly's title will change to Director of Classification and Personnel Management.
The creativity and hard work of our Division Directors and their staffs has allowed us to implement these sweeping changes. This work, combined with the Title Consolidation process initiated in 2010, provide a solid foundation for future improvements to the services we offer all of our stakeholders.
