The goal of the New Jersey State Suggestion Awards Program is to improve the quality of State government by encouraging State employees to present suggestions which result in improved economy, efficiency and/or improved service to the public.
If an employee’s suggestion is implemented and saves the State money or avoids costs, the New Jersey Employee Awards Committee grants a cash award based on the savings. Cash awards range from a minimum of $50.00 to a maximum of $10,000 for each approved suggestion.
Suggestions must be original or propose a new application to an old procedure. To merit an award, the suggestion must be implemented. Questions on the Employee Suggestion Form (DPF-73) must be thoroughly answered. It is not enough to say something ought to be done; you must clearly state what to do and how to do it.
Many ideas qualify as suggestions. Generally, any suggestion which makes an operation less expensive, faster, easier or safer, will qualify. A suggestion does not necessarily have to save money--- those which cut unnecessary “red tape” are welcomed.
Note: All State employees are eligible to take part in the Suggestion Awards Program. An individual is not eligible for an award if the suggestion involves a change they are responsible for, or have authority to implement as part of their normal responsibilities.
