Directions for United Alert

DCA has deactivated the phone tree method of emergency alert communication. The Department will now use the United Alert® service for this purpose. This service allows the Department to send critical notifications to you directly via SMS/text messaging and email. In order to sign up with United Alert® and subscribe to the DCA private sub-group:


  • Visit the United Alert® website (https://unitedalert.com) and create an account if you have not done so already. Be sure to enter and confirm the cell phone number and email address where you would like to receive your notifications. You should have your cell phone with you as you complete the form.
  • Visit the DCA group page, click “Join Group” and set your subscription preferences. You can find our group page by searching for our group name, NJDept of Community Affairs, in Group Finder, which is located on the lower-left portion of the site homepage. Again, you must join the DCA sub-group; if you do not, you will not receive the DCA-specific alerts.
