 The Unit within the Bureau of Code Services is responsible for the licensing and education of individuals as Uniform Construction Code (UCC) and Housing Code officials and inspectors.  The unit coordinates training programs and distributes information concerning the requirements to be a licensed code official within the State of New Jersey. Courses required for licensure are provided through the county college system and administered through our unit. Information regarding the most recent state-wide schedule of courses can be found below or by calling our office.

 While all necessary information for licensing is contained on this Web page, as well as all the required application forms, we are unable to accept on-line applications at this time. To apply for a license you must either call the office for a hard copy application package, or download and print the applicable forms and mail them into the licensing office.  A candidate for a license of any type issued pursuant to the UCC shall submit an application to the Code Officials Licensing Unit, Bureau of Code Services, accompanied by a required non refundable application fee. IMPORTANT NOTICE :  

Fees for initial and upgrade UCC license applications, as well as renewals will increase on March 2, 2009 from $65.00 to $82.00 . Applications for UCC administrative licenses will also increase on the same date from $35.00 to $44.00 . Applications for special inspector certifications will also increase from $65.00 to $82.00 per specialty. Applications received without the proper fee on or after March 2, 2009 will not be processed, but rather, returned for the proper fee.  Please note that the renewal fee increase applies to license expiration dates of July 31, 2009 and thereafter.
