Dear Carnival Owner:
Pursuant to N.J.A.C. 5:70-2.22 all carnivals that
wish to operate within the State are required to apply for a Registration
Certificate at least 30 days prior to commencing operations.
A carnival is defined as “A traveling circus or
other traveling amusement show having one or more of the following uses:
1.
Mobile enclosed structures used for human occupancy;
2.
Tents or temporary tension membrane structures;
3.
Any use involving open flame or flame producing device(s).”
Enclosed you will find a registration application. The completed application must be returned
with the appropriate fee as follows:
1. 10 or fewer locations: $60.00
2. 11 to 25 locations: $90.00
3. 26 or more locations: $120.00
Checks must be made payable to: "Treasurer, State of New Jersey."
Additionally, the following information must be provided
with the completed application:
1.
Complete plans for all mobile enclosed structures to be used
for human occupancy.
2.
Flame spread certifications for all tents.
3.
Seating and usage diagrams for all tents.
4.
A listing of all uses requiring a separate permit required
under N.J.A.C. 5:70-2.7 as outlined on the back of this page.
5.
Certificate of Insurance.
If your application is approved, the Division will issue to
you a Carnival Registration Certificate.
Copies of the approved certificates will be provided to all local
enforcing agencies identified on your itinerary. If you operate without the required certificate the carnival will
be closed and you will be issued a penalty pursuant to N.J.A.C. 5:70-2.12(b)8iii.
Lastly,
you are required to obtain permits as outlined on the back of this page
from the local enforcing agency and comply with all other requirements
of the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code.
