For 30 years, the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency has worked with municipalities and developers across the state to provide financing and technical assistance for the development of affordable housing. We have found that affordable housing can be a healthy and beneficial component of a municipality’s overall housing plan. The positive benefit of affordable housing can be maximized through strategic design and placement of the units, and through the integration of affordable housing into the overall land use and development decision-making process.
Our commitment to municipal governments goes beyond the bricks and mortar of housing to the quality of life of all New Jersey residents. Towards that end, NJHMFA has provided brief background information on some of the tools municipalities have available to integrate affordable housing into their well planned communities and where NJHMFA fits into the process.
