MILLVILLE — City residents sat underneath tents outside New Jersey’s first green senior housing building Friday for the grand opening of the Glasstown Residence at River Park.
The environmentally friendly building opened in late May to about 20 residents. Residents, project planners and developers, and members of the Millville Housing Authority and Holly City Senior Housing Partnership attended the ribbon cutting for the building Friday at the location on South Second Street.
Housing Authority Executive Director Paul F. Dice, Senior Housing Partnership Managing Partner Samual P. Bitonti, Mayor James Quinn, and Millville Planning Director Kim Ayres were among those who spoke about the project. Marge Della Vecchia, executive director of the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency, gave the ceremony’s keynote address.
Following the speakers and ribbon cutting, guests were invited inside for building tours and refreshments.
