On Thursday July 31, 2008, the Linden Lake Senior Housing, in Lindenwold, NJ, celebrated the completion of 82 “green” affordable senior apartments with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to honor all of the individuals who contributed to its realization. The green building practices implemented at Linden Lake promote resource conservation, consider environmental impacts, and create a healthy and comfortable environment. Some of the features include:
- 48.26 kW Solar Photovoltaic (PV) system that offsets utility costs for common area electric usage
- Solar hot water system - which works so well that they have yet to turn on boilers since March 2008! –
- NJ ENERGY STAR Homes Certification
- High efficiency (SEER 15) heating and cooling systems
- Durable, healthy flooring materials
- Energy Star rated light fixtures and appliances
- Water saving plumbing fixtures
- Built on a reclaimed brownfield within a residential community
