Attention
New Jersey Government Agency Technology Coordinators!
We want you...to
tell us who you are. The GovConnect program is starting
a Technology Coordinator’s role for all those in state, local,
county, and K-12 school agencies to join to take advantage of
collaboration, communication, and to share the experiences of
managing government technology in today’s environment.
Tell us who
you are by filling out the very brief survey at www.nj.gov/dca/surveys/tcsurvey.htm and
we’ll send you information on signing up for the program.
To help the process, feel free to sign up for MyNewJersey by clicking
on the “New Users – Register Here” button on the top of the State’s
home page at www.nj.gov. (If you’ve previously gotten e-mail from us, no
need to do it again!).
As a further
way to help the government technology community, technology coordinators
should also know about the association of government IT professionals
– Government Management Information Sciences. GMIS International
was formed in 1971 and has grown to over 500 members representing
34 states, 230 cities, 215 counties, and the countries of Canada,
Sweden, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands.
The organization
serves as a forum in which government IT professionals exchange
information, strategies, problems and solutions in order to accumulate
“best practices” knowledge and techniques that will benefit their
agencies.
There is
now a New Jersey chapter of GMIS – NJ GMIS and it is seeking members
from all New Jersey government agencies: state, local, school,
county, and authorities. This
is an exciting opportunity for government technology coordinators
who don’t have an association or ready opportunities to meet with
their peers in other organizations to share problems and solutions.
The New Jersey
Chapter of GMIS can provide those opportunities and more!
For more
information about NJ GMIS and the benefits of joining, check their
website at www.njgmis.org or
