Final CMPTRA Aid Program Allocations


With the adoption of the final State budget, the State Legislature and Governor Corzine revised the allocation of CMPTRA Program aid. The changes add funds to all municipalities that had their CMPTRA reduced (after transfers to Energy Tax Receipts) in the original proposal in February.

In the final proposal, municipalities with a population of under 10,000 have funds restored to result in a 25% reduction of what they would have originally received in CY 2008/FY 2009 (after transfers to Energy Tax Receipts). If the impact of that reduction results in an increase of more than $100 in the 2007 average residential property tax bill (as calculated by the DLGS), additional aid is restored to limit the increase due to CMPTRA loss in the average residential property taxes to $100.

Municipalities with a population over 10,000 have funds restored to result in approximately a 2.42% reduction of what they would have originally received in CY 2008/FY 2009 (after transfers to Energy Tax Receipts).
