Development Opportunities InterAgency Team

Coordinated and facilitated by the Office of Smart Growth in the Department of Community Affairs, the Development Opportunities InterAgency Team is comprised of eight state agencies including DOT, BPU, EDA, HMFA, Commerce, DEP, NJ Transit, NJRA and DCA.

The mission of this team is to assist local officials and developers in bringing smart growth redevelopment projects to fruition in Planning Areas 1 and 2 and Designated Centers of the State Development and Redevelopment Plan.

The team provides support, advice and guidance for project stakeholders. For example, specific permits required by DEP and loans and financing tools available through EDA and HMFA are thoroughly discussed with project representatives.

Project design feedback is also provided when requested. In addition, team members are available after each formal project review team meeting to work directly with developers and local officials to ensure that projects move toward completion as efficiently as possible.

In the past three years, the team has helped to facilitate an investment of over $3.8 billion in smart growth areas throughout the state.
