the Smart Growth Policy Council
Mission
and Purpose
- To
develop and implement inter-
and intra-departmental procedures
and programs consistent with
the principles of Smart Growth.
- To
recommend legislative and
administrative changes to
advance the principles of
Smart Growth.

To ensure that state funding
issued to promote economic
activity, transportation and
infrastructure spending and
regulation and school construction
initiatives promote Smart
Growth.
- To
coordinate and consolidate
state redevelopment initiatives,
especially those involving
brownfield sites.
- To
provide an inter-departmental
venue for Smart Growth related
conflict resolution.

To provide direction to the
Attorney General to defend
and/or intervene on behalf
of municipalities, counties
or regional planning entities
that have adopted plans that
are consistent with Smart
Growth.

To provide Smart Growth Impact
Statements prior to the adoption,
amendment or repeal of any
rule adopted pursuant to the
Administrative Procedure Act.

To ensure that agencies represented
on the Council undertake a
review of their respective
spending programs, rules and
regulations to ensure actions
consistent with the principles
of Smart Growth.
