RADIUS FAQ's for Emission Statement
Q1: What are Source Details and when should they be reported?
A1: Source Details are detailed information such as type of fuel, sulfur content of the fuel, VOC content of the ink or coating, size of tank, and content in the tank. Source Details should be reported for all combustion sources, printing presses, surface coating operations, and storage tanks including for insignificant sources. In RADIUS, the Source Details button is located in the Emission Statement section, at the bottom left-hand corner of the Emissions screen. This button activates the window for filling out this information.
Q2: What are Control Operations and when should they be reported?
A2: Control Operations include information such as operating
time and capture, removal, and overall efficiencies. Control Operations should
be reported for all operating scenarios that have a control device associated
to it, as indicated in the Emission Unit/Batch Process Inventory. In RADIUS,
the Control Operations button is located in the Emission Statement section,
at the bottom left-hand corner of the Emissions screen. This button activates
the window for filling out this information.
Q3: What are SCC's and where are they reported in RADIUS?
A3: SCC's are Standard Classification Codes. These codes identify the
type of source each operating scenario is. SCC's are reported in the Emission
Unit/Batch Process Inventory. Federal requirements call for four levels of SCC coding for each operating scenario (x-xx-xxx-xx). There is an SCC builder in RADIUS that allows
SCC's to be selected for each operating scenario. Please do not use the SCC's
starting with "A" because these are reserved for area sources only.
Q4: I cannot revise my Emission Statement because it's locked. How do
I unlock it?
A4: Select "Lock/Unlock" under the File pull-down menu in RADIUS.
This will allow you to unlock the file you want.
Q5: When can I use the Autocalculate feature in RADIUS?
A5: The Autocalculate feature can only be used for equipment types of Boiler, Printing Press, and Surface Coating Equipment. RADIUS does not autocalculate emissions for any other types of equipment.
Q6: How do I introduce a new operating scenario into the Emission Statement? How do I remove a source no longer permitted to the facility
A6: Operating scenarios can be added in the Emission Unit/Batch Process
Inventory, however in order to have sources deleted from the emission statement which are no longer permitted to the facility, you must call the Emission Statement helpline for assistance.
Q7: It appears that the emissions at the facility level are not summed
correctly. What should I do?
A7: Call the Emission Statement Helpline for assistance.
Q8: Should I save the RADIUS file directly to the floppy disk?
A8: No, do not save the RADIUS file directly to the floppy disk because
the floppy disk may not have enough disk space. Instead, save the file onto
the hard drive first and then copy it onto the floppy disk.
Q9: How do I know that the Department has received my electronically submitted emission statement?
A9: All emission statements submitted through the NJDEP Online Services Portal will receive confirmation through the Confirmation Certification Screen once the emission statement has been certified.
Q10: Do minor facilities submitting emission statements through the NJDEP Online Services Portal need to have the certifiers first fill out the RADIUS Certification Authorization Form?
A10: No. CROMERR only applies to major facilities submitting an emission statement through NJDEP Online.
Q11: Do all emission statements need to submitted through the NJDEP Services Portal?
A11: No. Any facility, whether Major OR Minor, still have the option to mail in the emission statement through the USPS. |
