It
is the mission of the IRC to provide timely and high-quality environmental
information research and services to NJDEP staff and to the general public.
Our vision for the IRC is to be an environmental information center whose
work and resources are aligned with and critical to the priorities of
the Department.
All
services provided by the IRC are available to all NJDEP personnel.
Members of the general public are welcomed to use the library and its
various collections, but are restricted from borrowing any IRC books,
documents, etc. and from using services that incur fees, such as interlibrary
loans or database searches.
The
IRC's services include:
A
circulating collection of books, journals, government documents and
regulatory materials related to environmental science and technology.
Interlibrary
loan services for photocopying and borrowing information resources from
other libraries. The IRC has access to a vast network of libraries
that share their information resources with other libraries.
Information
Research and reference services provided by two professional librarians
who can assist DEP staff with projects in all subject areas. These services
include IRC access to Dialog, a powerful information service.
Dialog makes millions of documents accessible in approximately 650 discrete
databases covering topics such as business and industry, engineering,
intellectual property, medicine, science, and technology.
