Internships at C&E
Are you interested in the environment and enforcing the laws that protect it?
If so, New Jersey DEP’s Compliance and Enforcement program needs you.
While stressing customer service principles and maintaining a strong arm of the law, Compliance and Enforcement provides opportunities for you in our air, water, land use, pesticides, underground storage tanks, solid waste and hazardous waste programs.
You can go out in the field with our inspectors and participate in an inspection at a regulated facility. Or maybe you’d rather assist in data collection and analysis, research activities, management strategies, regulatory work, or emergency response. If you’re interested in evaluating New Jersey’s drinking water and wastewater treatment systems or studying the effects of overgrown marshes in backyard and stream land areas, you’ve come to the right place.
From administrative to technical, we offer you the opportunity to experience it all from inside government walls.
Throughout the years, we’ve had interns participate in our pesticides program through the Governor’s Hispanic Fellows Program; in our water program from Rutgers, Rowan, and Drexel Universities; in our air program from Duke University; and the College of NJ provided us with support in our Office of Strategy Management.
The Department of Environmental Protection maintains a resume pool of intern candidates throughout the year that is used to recruit college and graduate student for unpaid internships. So, if you think you’d like to join us in carrying out diverse and important enforcement responsibilities, visit the DEP’s Employment Opportunities webpage at http://www.nj.gov/dep/jobs/ for additional information.
Below is a slideshow of pictures from a site visit that our interns took in the company of DEP Staff.
