NJ Landscape Project Training and Information Sessions

The Landscape Project is an interactive ecosystem-based mapping tool that assists government agencies, planners, conservation groups, the public and others in making decisions that will protect imperiled and special concern wildlife.

The New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife's Endangered and Nongame Species Program (ENSP) offers training and information sessions on the Landscape Project at locations throughout the state. This site will be updated as sessions are scheduled.

Version 3.1 of the Landscape Project was released February 21, 2012 and includes a number of updates and enhancements:

In Version 3.1 of the Landscape Project, all information has been updated to incorporate: The information available in Version 3.1 has been enhanced to:
► changes to the endangered species list and the nongame wildlife list ► provide a more precise habitat mapping built on species-specific habitat associations
► a standard, consistent, peer-reviewed method applied throughout the state ► encompass species previously not represented through-out the state, including freshwater mussels, marine mammals and marine turtles
► over 3,500 new species occurrence records in the Biotics database ► include more detailed species information, such as type of occurrence and last year of occurrence
► the most recent Land Use/Land Cover data from 2007 ► transparently document the mapping method that is based on scientific literature
A Landscape Project information session will include an overview of the Landscape Project mapping method and applications and cover the updates and enhancements to the project, while the training will provide participants an opportunity to use GIS "hands-on" to access habitat maps for threatened and endangered wildlife species.

Registration is required and seating is limited so please register as soon as possible.
