New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Commissioner Bradley M.Campbell today announced the re-opening of several New Jersey reservoirs to night fishing. After the events of September 11, Round Valley, Spruce Run and Monksville reservoirs were closed for fishing from dusk until dawn for security reasons.

"These bodies of water are extremely popular with New Jersey anglers," said Campbell. "Opening the reservoirs to night fishing again will provide recreational opportunities for those fishing in the Garden State, and also activate 'eyes and ears' on the water providing an informal layer of security."

Round Valley and Spruce Run Reservoirs are located in Hunterdon County and are administered by the New Jersey Water Supply Authority. Monksville Reservoir is in Passaic County and is administered by the North Jersey District Water Supply Commission. The DEP's Division of Parks and Forestry provides outdoor recreational opportunities at all three sites and the Division of Fish and Wildlife stocks fish such as lake trout, brown trout, rainbow trout, walleye and northern pike (depending on the reservoir).
