2003 SPECIAL AREA DEER SEASON PERMITS AVAILABLE

According to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Division of Fish and Wildlife, leftover lottery deer permits for special areas will be available beginning Oct. 27 for the following zones: 37, 52, 57, 58, 61, and 67. Permits will be available from 9 a.m. - noon and from 1 - 4 p.m. at selected Division field offices. Sales locations vary according to zone. In addition, Zone 59 permits will be available from 10 a.m. – noon on Nov. 23 at the Supawna Wildlife Refuge only. These permit sales will enable hunters who did not apply for a permit, were not selected in the lottery, or who wish to obtain an extra permit the opportunity to do so.

Hunters are reminded that they are limited to purchasing one permit per season per zone this year. This means that a qualified hunter may possess one bow, one muzzleloader and one shotgun permit for a specific zone. Hunters may not have two of the same season permits for the same zone.

Anyone interested in purchasing a permit must bring their 2003 hunting license and cash or check for $28. Youth hunters must bring their youth license, hunter education certificate or previous year’s youth license and cash or check for $12 per permit.

Hunters should also note that the zones involved are all “Special Areas” and as such, many have mandatory orientation sessions or registration periods.

Fort Dix (Zones 37 and 52):
Zone 37: Permits remain for the Bow, Shotgun and Muzzleloader Seasons.
Zone 52: Less than 25 bow permits and less than 5 shotgun permits remain. Muzzleloader permits are also available.
