The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Fish & Wildlife announces an important date change for the Permit Muzzleloader Deer Season in Zone 54 (Picatinny Arsenal) only. Located in Morris County, the Arsenal was forced to modify its Fall Bow and Permit Muzzleloader seasons due to base security constraints.

To help compensate for the loss of hunting days and reduction in harvests, Picatinny Arsenal will be open an additional day for permit muzzleloader hunting on Saturday, January 11, 2003. Hunters should note that the additional Saturday is for current permit holders only and that the arsenal is not open to the public. No additional permits are available.

Section 7:25 - 5.28(b) of the 2002-03 Game Code gives the Director of the Division of Fish & Wildlife the ability to authorize additional hunting days if the anticipated harvest has not been reached.
