Location Change for January 5, 2005 Public Meeting on Winter Flounder

December 30, 2004

The location of the public meeting on winter flounder hosted by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Division of Fish and Wildlife at 7 p.m. on January 5 has been changed. The meeting will now be held at the Taylor Pavilion on Ocean Avenue between Fifth and Sixth avenues on the boardwalk in Belmar, Monmouth County.

The purpose of the meeting is to gather feedback regarding recreational and commercial management measures contained in Amendment 1 to the ASMFC’s Interstate Fishery Management Plan (FMP) for Winter Flounder. Fishermen and other interested groups are encouraged to provide input only on the proposed recreational and commercial management measures of the amendment, since all other sections were reviewed and finalized this past summer.

Copies of proposals can be obtained via the ASMFC’s web site at www.asmfc.org under Breaking News or by calling 202-289-6400. Written comments will be accepted until 5 p.m. on January 7, 2005 and should be forwarded to Lydia Munger, FMP Coordinator, 1444 Eye Street, NW, Sixth Floor, Washington, DC 20005; 202-289-6051 (fax); or comments@asmfc.org.
