December 3, 2015
The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife is pleased to announce the availability of a new category of fishing license when 2016 fishing and hunting licenses go on sale Thursday, December 17*. The new type of license will be available to anglers introducing a "Buddy" to freshwater fishing. The new Fishing Buddy License offers both a current and a new angler reduced price fishing licenses!
The new discounted licenses will be available to resident anglers ages 16 to 65, or any nonresident angler over age 16, who purchase an annual New Jersey Freshwater Fishing License with a Buddy. Eligibility requires at least one new angler. For this program a "new angler" is considered a resident or non-resident who has never purchased a fishing license or has not purchased a fishing license since 2010.
For more information on the new licenses, visit www.njfishandwildlife.com/fishbuddy.htm.
* The creation of these licenses pushed back the sale date of 2016 licenses from the December 1 date found in the Hunting Digest.
