December 23, 2015
The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife has been informed that in January and February, 2016, the Hunters Helping the Hungry (HHH) program will be waiving the fee hunters are asked to pay when donating deer. Normally hunters contribute $10 to $25 per deer to defray the costs of the program. More than 1,500,000 meals have been distributed by the program since its beginning in 1997.
Through December 1, 2015, HHH has helped deliver more than 8,115 pounds of venison, equating to 32,460 meals to the NJ food bank system. There are currently no state or federal funds for the program; the entire program is run directly from public donations.
