The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife is reminding hunters that the Spring Turkey Permit Application Period is now open. Applications can be made either online or by going to any license agent. The application period remains open until 11:59 pm on Monday, February 22.
Applicants are encouraged to review their applications once submitted. Lottery applications can be edited online until the application period closes.
The 2016 NJ Wild Turkey Hunting Season Information booklet is available at license agents and online.
Award notification and the ability to claim awarded permits will begin on February 29. Successful lottery applicants will then have until March 21 at 11:59 pm to claim their awarded permits. Any unclaimed permits WILL BE FORFEITED and become available for sale during the over-the-counter sales. Qualified farmers can claim their Spring Turkey farmer permit beginning February 29.
Leftover and unclaimed Spring Turkey Permits will go on sale Monday, March 28 at 10:00 a.m. These permits will be available on a first come, first served basis until either the season ends or the permit quota is met, whichever comes first. Permits will be available for sale at all license agents and on the internet sales website.

NOTE: Beginning in 2017 the Turkey Hunting Season Information Booklet will be available only online; spring and fall turkey permit and hunting information will be included in the August 2017 issue of the Hunting and Trapping Digest. The print version is being discontinued as a cost-saving measure.
