Scope of Eligibility: Open to permanent employees in a competitive title in the Division of Fish and Wildlife, who meet the requirements below.
Description: Under the direction of the Master Mechanic or other supervisor in a state department, supervises Equipment Operators and Heavy Equipment Operators engaged in highway construction and maintenance. Supervises staff and work activities. Prepares and signs official performance evaluations for subordinate staff; does related work as required.
Specific to the Position: Position supervises staff in the creation, modification of habitat improvement projects, maintenance of boat ramps, parking areas, and water control structures, utilizing heavy equipment within NJDFW's Bureau of Lands Management, Southern Region. Ensures that projects are implemented in accordance with approved designs and within project scope. Ensures equipment is operated and maintained in a safe and effective manner.
Preferred Skill Set: Familiarity with and experience in operating heavy equipment owned by the Division; familiarity with the numerous Wildlife Management Areas in the Southern Region.
Requirements
Experience: Four (4) years of experience in work involving the use, maintenance and adjustment of heavy mechanized highway construction and maintenance equipment.
License: Appointees must possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey. Appointees will be required to possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) only if it is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
Residency: All persons newly hired on or after September 1, 2011 have one year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain principal residence in the State of New Jersey subject to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L.2011, Chapter 70), also known as the "New Jersey First Act".
Authorization to Work: Selected candidates must be authorized to work in the United States per the Department of Homeland Security, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations. Note: The State of New Jersey does not provide sponsorship for citizenship to the United States.
