The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife reminds turkey hunters that the 1998 Spring Gobbler Season is scheduled to begin Monday, April 20 and will continue for five weeks. The outlook for the season is excellent with biologists predicting a harvest comparable to the 2,034 gobblers taken last spring.

"A second mild winter has placed New Jersey's wild turkeys in good condition, so hunters can anticipate harvesting some heavy gobblers this spring," said Division Director Bob McDowell. "In addition, population numbers are high in many areas of the state which should add to the success of the season."
