Stocking Updates
May 11 - Fish allocated for cancelled stockings in Week 2 have now all been stocked.
April 26 - Fish allocated for cancelled stockings in Week 2 will be allocated to the same waters during Weeks 3, 4 and 5; total season allocations will remain unaffected.
April 24 - Due to last week's schedule adjustment in response to extreme high water conditions, many waters are receiving a double allotment this week.
April 18 - The Rancocas, Assunpink and Stony Brook are being postponed till further notice. The Week 2 Schedule was revised and posted at 1:45 p.m and updated again at 4 p.m.
April 17 - Due to flooding, and elevated stream levels, streams and lakes scheduled to be stocked on Monday, April 16, were NOT stocked. For Tuesday, April 17, lakes in Gloucester, Salem, Middlesex, Monmouth, Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic and Ocean counties, with the exception of Greenwich Lake, Iona Lake and Riverview Beach Pond will be stocked as scheduled.
The South Branch of the Raritan River, Pequannock River, Pompton River, Pohatcong River, Furnace Lake, Furnace Brook, and Oldham Pond originally scheduled for today, Tuesday, April 17, will NOT be stocked and will be re-scheduled. Be sure to check the Division's Web site over the next few days as the stocking schedule is revised as water levels, are being continually monitored, and as cancelled stockings are re-scheduled as resources permit.
No changes to the stocking schedule are anticipated for Wednesday. Additional loads are anticipated to be added to Thursday and Friday, depending on stream conditions.
April 5 - Stony Brook along Mine Road in Mercer County will no longer be stocked with trout. The property was recently purchased and the new landowner is not allowing access and has posted No Trespassing signs. Unfortunately, the land exchanged hands one week after the Stony Brook was stocked with trout for opening day. Anglers are reminded that there are still several other access areas along Pretty Brook Road, Rosedale Park, Princeton Pike and Quaker Bridge Road. Areas open to the public for fishing are posted with "Trout Stocked Water" signs. Many thanks to the anglers who called and brought this issue to our attention.
March 22 - The Trout Conservation Areas on the Musconetcong River (Point Mt.) and S/Br. Raritan River (Ken Lockwood Gorge) will be stocked on Friday, March 23. Unlike most trout-stocked waters, which are closed from now until opening day, the TCA's are open to fishing right now (catch & release, artificial lures only). Consult the Fish and Wildlife Digest (p. 19) for applicable regulations.
March 19 - The Trout Conservation Areas on the Musconetcong River and S/Br. Raritan River were not stocked on March 19, as scheduled, due to snow cover and icy conditions. Concern for the safety of the dedicated people who help spread the trout out over these stream sections (Division staff, Wildlife Conservation Corps volunteers and, on the Musconetcong River TCA, Hunterdon County Parks staff) factored into this decision. When conditions improve, these areas will be stocked and the stocking date will be posted on this Website page. The Trout Conservation Areas are stocked as early as possible during the 3-week period preceding opening day, because they are open to angling (catch & release only for trout).
