Map Description:

Recently, New Jersey Department of Transportation senior staff formed the Capital Investment Strategy (CIS) Task Force, to guide the development of the FY ’07 CIS document. Several subcommittees were formed to, among other things, reevaluate their respective programs under various spending scenarios. The Congestion Management Committee (CMC) Projects Prioritization Map was created as a screening tool for congestion-related projects under a Capital Program funding 25% reduction scenario. Specifically, this map depicts a variety of congestion and travel-related elements that together define “strategic areas” within the State. Projects that did not fall within corridors with at least 2 of the 5 elements were considered for deferment.

Later on, the Projects Prioritization map was used as a guide for instituting new Emergency Service Patrols (ESP) on arterial roadways. The ESP map kept evolving to the point where it is now a Statewide ITS Coverage Map.
