Office of Natural Resource Restoration Lower Passaic River and Tributary Grant
Purpose of Funding
Funds are available for construction of projects that create or enhance freshwater wetlands and public access on the Lower Passaic River or tributaries to the Lower Passaic River.

Who is Eligible
Government agencies and non-profit organizations are eligible for funding under this grant program.
Qualifications Required for Consideration
In order to qualify for this ONRR grant, the project must:
The grant is for construction purposes only (not for planning, design or permitting). Projects may be determined to be ineligible based on the presence of known or suspected toxic substances.
- Be proposed by a government agency or non-profit organization
- Be located on publicly accessible property
- Be at least 50% designed
- Create/enhance wetlands located directly adjacent to the Passaic River downstream of the Dundee Dam or directly adjacent to a tributary of the Passaic River provided the confluence is downstream of the Dundee Dam
- Provide or enhance public access to the Lower Passaic River or its tributaries
DEP is making a total of $10,000,000 available for this grant. The minimum amount of the ONRR grant shall not be less than $500,000. The maximum amount of the ONRR grant to a single project shall not exceed $3,000,000.
