On March 1, 2002, the Green Acres Program preserved 47 acres of land along the Delaware River in Cinnaminson Township, Burlington County. This beautiful waterfront property borders both the Delaware River and Dredge Harbor and is located next to the Taylor Wildlife Preserve. This valuable parcel was slated for the development of 106 dwelling units but through the combined efforts of the State of New Jersey, The Friends of Taylor Wildlife Preserve and neighboring businesses and citizens it has been preserved for all to visit and enjoy. The former Harbor Reef Joint Venture property comprises a mix of forest and fields with a rocky beachfront, affording views of both the river and harbor. The land will be incorporated into the Taylor Wildlife Preserve and be managed by the Natural Lands Trust. Created by the Legislature in 1968, the Natural Lands Trust (NLT) is an independent agency housed within the Department of Environmental Protection. The NLT preserves, in their natural state, lands acquired by the State via donations or conservation easements. It manages these properties to conserve endangered species habitat, rare natural features and significant ecosystems, and for enjoyment by the public. Access to Trust lands generally is not restricted. Passive recreational and educational use by the public is invited, as long as it does not adversely affect natural communities and biological diversity.
The property is located on Taylors Lane off River Road in Cinnaminson Township. |
