COASTAL GENERAL PERMIT 20 – Minor Maintenance dredging in man-made lagoons
The Coastal General Permit 20 authorizes minor maintenance dredging in man-made lagoons, provided:
- The waterway where the structure will be located meets the definition of man-made lagoon found at N.J.A.C. 7:7-1.3;
- No more than 100 cubic yards of material is to be dredged;
- The proposed lagoon depth is 6 feet or less below mean low water;
- The dredged material will be place on an upland site and stabilized;
- Any wetlands adjacent to the dredging activity are protected by creating a dredged slope no steeper than one vertical foot for each 3 horizontal feet, starting at the waterward edge of the wetlands; and
- The dredged lagoon depth is not deeper than the water depth outshore of the project.
