PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

The Community Right to Know (CRTK) program collects, processes, and disseminates the data regarding the chemical inventory, environmental release and materials accounting.  This data is required to be reported under the New Jersey Worker and Community Right to Know Act, and the federal Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act of 1986 (EPCRA). This information is used by the public, emergency planners, and first responders to determine the chemical hazards in the community.

Copies of the chemical inventory reporting form (the Community Right to Know Survey), are required under state law to be transmitted by the facilities to the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), and the police and fire departments.   The department can also provide to the municipality, upon request, an electronic record of what was reported by companies in their town.
