PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

The Green Acres Program works with landowners, municipal governments, county governments, nonprofit organizations, and other conservation partnerships to protect land of statewide significance. This is done through direct purchase or conservation easements.

The program also awards matching grants and loans to municipal and county governments, and matching grants to nonprofit conservation organizations, to acquire open space and develop outdoor recreation facilities.

MONETARY ASSISTANCE PROVIDED:

The Green Acres Program assists municipalities, counties, and nonprofit conservation organizations in the acquisition of open space for recreation and conservation purposes, and the development of outdoor recreational facilities. Each year, Green Acres provides matching grant and low-interest loan funding from the Garden State Preservation Trust.
