PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The State Park Service is responsible for the administration of 42 state parks, 11 state forests, 44 natural areas, more than 50 historic sites and districts, 4 recreation areas, 1 golf course, 5 marinas and 4 reservoir sites located throughout the state.
The mission of the State Park Service is to provide for the administration, operation, maintenance, interpretation and protection of recreational, natural, cultural and historical resources for the safe and enjoyable, recreational and educational use by the public.
More than 18 million people visit State Park facilities each year to enjoy recreational opportunities, including swimming, hiking, canoeing, biking, boating, horseback riding, fishing, hunting, picnicking and camping. In addition to these recreational activities, natural and historic interpretive programs and special events are offered at many state parks and forests.

PERMITTING RESPONSIBILITIES:
Special Use Permits are required for the exclusive use of park lands or property for special events and commercial photography or videography.
