PUBLIC MEETINGS ON STRIPED BASS REGULATIONS
JUNE 1, 3 AND 7
(04/58) TRENTON - The Department
of Environmental Protection's (DEP) Division of Fish and
Wildlife will hold three public meetings on this year's
proposed regulations for striped bass recreationally caught
in state waters. The meetings are scheduled for June 1 in
Bergen County, June 3 in Ocean County and June 7 in Cape
May County.
The DEP, in cooperation with the New Jersey
Marine Fisheries Council, developed several recreational-fishery
options that would allow New Jersey to maintain compliance
with the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission's Interstate
Fisheries Management Plan for Striped Bass. The options
will be discussed so the state's recreational striped-bass
fishermen and the public can help determine which option
best balances anglers' needs and preferences with conservation
of the fishery.
