Musical Performances Featured This Weekend During Evening Concerts at Ringwood State Park and Allaire State Park
EVENTS TO OFFER FOLK MUSIC AND THE GOLDEN OLDIES OF ELVIS, BEACH BOYS

(16/P78) TRENTON – Fans of live music have two opportunities this weekend to enjoy concerts offered Friday, August 19 at Ringwood State Park in Passaic County, and on Saturday, August 20 at Allaire State Park in Monmouth County.

On Saturday, rising folk musician Loretta Hagen is set to perform at 6:30 p.m. at the New Jersey Botanical Gardens in Ringwood State Park. A $5 donation is requested.

Hagen, who recently released her third CD “Mud and Stone,” is the 2013 JAM Awards “Top Female Songwriter of the Year,” a New Jersey Folk Festival Songwriter Competition winner, and a CT Folk Festival Finalist. She performs ballads, up-tempo country swing and blues on her latest CD. Visitors should bring a lawn chair. In case of inclement weather, the concert will move to the park’s Carriage House. The show is sponsored by American Wear.

The Coastliners, who have been performing since 1964 and are known for their four-part harmony, will perform a variety of classic oldies from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Historic Allaire Village Chapel. In their heyday, The Coastliners recorded six top 10 hits between 1964 and 1968, including “She’s My Girl” and “Alright.” Tickets are $15 per person and advance purchase is recommended. The chapel is handicap-accessible. The show is sponsored by Allaire Village Inc.

“One of the best ways to enjoy a New Jersey summer evening is to listen to live music under the stars at Ringwood and Allaire state parks,” said State Parks and Forestry Director Mark Texel. “We are pleased to be able to offer these shows to park visitors, and hope they will take advantage of the opportunity to come hear these talented artists.”
