DGS04-1 Earthquakes Epicentered In New Jersey

Abstract

The New Jersey Geological Survey Digital Geodata Series DGS04-1 download contains a (GIS) point dataset in an ESRI shapefile which has data of earthquakes that had epicenters in New Jersey. This shapefile has 158 earthquakes with epicenters in New Jersey. Most are minor with magnitudes ranging from 0.4 to 5.3 and depths up to 25 km below sea level. Earthquakes with magnitude of 0 (zero) implies that the magnitude is unkown.

Following earthquakes added since Feb. 18, 2009 version:

1) 2.25km ESE of Pennsville, NJ on 7-1-2009, 9:44 am (EST), Magnitude 2.8, Depth 5 km .

The ESRI shapefile, database files are combined with FGDC compliant metadata and Adobe™ PDF document njearthquakes.pdf (listing of the epicenters with a map and metadata) in a compressed 'zip' file, dgs04-1.zip.
