The following is the statutory and regulatory authority under which restoration is pursued for compensation of natural resource injuries:

New Jersey State Statutes & Regulations

• Water Pollution Control Act, N.J.S.A. 58:10A-1 et seq.

• Spill Compensation and Control Act , N.J.S.A. 58:10-23.11 et seq.

• The Public Trust Doctrine ,See for example, State Dept. of Envtl. Prot. v. Jersey Central Power and Light Co., 133 N.J. Super. 375 (App. Div. 1975): rev's on other grds, 69 N.J. 102 (1976) et seq.

• Technical Requirements for Site Remediation, N.J.A.C. 7:26E

Federal Statutes

• Comprehensive Environmental Response and Compensation Liability Act (Superfund), 42 U.S.C. 9601 et seq. (releases of hazardous substances)
