Community Forestry Public Outreach and Programs

How can the Community Forestry Program assist your city or town?

The staff of the Community Forestry Program advises and assists counties, municipalities and local organizations in developing and implementing community forestry activities, including:

  • Proper tree selection, planting and maintenance
  • Community involvement
  • Ordinance development
  • Public awareness and education
  • Insect and disease management
  • Long-term strategies for natural resource planning

In addition to technical assistance, the State Forestry Services helps in the promotion and formation of state and local advocacy groups for the care and planting of trees. Training meetings and technical and organizational workshops are provided to encourage ongoing public participation and increase volunteer support.

This guide outlines the programs offered by the Community Forestry Program. Each grant, outreach and award program has been designed to assist communities in developing their own community forestry programs, as well as provide the technical assistance to help these local program achieve long-term success.
