Vendor Application - Food and Marketplace

Food Vendors
If you are a Food Vendor interested in participating in the SPIRIT of the JERSEYS State History Fair to be held Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Washington Crossing State Park, please complete and print a Vendor Application. Completed applications should be sent to: NJDEP, Division of Parks & Forestry, Office of Concessions, PO Box 404, Trenton, NJ 08625-0404. Applications must be postmarked by February 1, 2008. Confirmation of Acceptance will be mailed upon review of application.

NOTE: Department of Environmental Protection (Department) reserves the right to cancel this event at any time, without prior notification. Vendors waive any claim for damages and compensation as a result of any decision by Department to cancel. In the event of a Department mandated cancellation, application fees/deposits will be reimbursed.

Craft Artisans & Nonprofit Museum ShopVendors
The SPIRIT of the JERSEYS State History Fair is seeking Nonprofit Museum Shops and craft artisans for the Fair’s MarketPlace. Craft artisans’ work must be original and traditional or representative of a historical period. Artisans’ work may include historical reproductions or items based on historical designs and techniques. Categories include Metal, Glass, Jewelry, Wood, Pottery, Fiber Arts & Leather, Toys and Dolls and Mixed Media.

If you are a craft artisan or nonprofit museum shop interested in participating in the SPIRIT of the JERSEYS State History Fair to be held Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Washington Crossing State Park, please complete and print a Vendor Application and an Image Description Form. Additional information and criteria for craft artisans are listed below.

How to Apply

  • Complete and print the Vendor Application
  • Complete and print Image Description Form
  • Include five (5) images of your work on a formatted compact disc (See Preparing Your Images Section)
  • Mail application, image description form and formatted CD to: NJDEP, Division of Parks & Forestry, Office of Concessions, PO Box 404, Trenton, NJ 08625-0404. Applications must be postmarked by February 1, 2008.
    Confirmation of Acceptance will be mailed upon review of application.

Categories
Choose the category that most closely describes your work. Category descriptions represent a sampling of the things included in the categories.

• Fiber Arts & Leather: Basketry; quilts; knitted items; tatting or other needlework; handmade paper items; items sewn or otherwise pieced together from fabric or other natural materials such as leather or wool, including garments, accessories, etc.; weaving and tapestry.
• Woodworking: Furniture, carved sculpture, wooden vessels, inlay or other pieces whose primary medium is wood.
• Jewelry: Based on historical designs and patterns.
• Metal: Hand wrought items such as fireplace accoutrements, lighting fixtures, hardware.
• Pottery: Vessels or other items made from clay (No commercial molds).
• Glass: Molded, slumped, fused, or blown glass items other than jewelry.
• Toys/Dolls: Handcrafted; based on historical designs and patterns.
• Mixed Media or Other: This category includes objects that incorporate more than one medium as well as published books of a historical nature, especially those with an emphasis on NJ History.

Preparing Your Images
To help determine the appropriateness of craft items, please include five jpeg images saved on a formatted compact disc (minimum size: 320x240 pixels, 100dpi preferred for each image). Three of these images must represent the work you will offer for sale, one illustrates your booth display, and one of the artist at work in his or her studio or workspace. Applications without these specified images will not be considered. The product images you send must represent the products you will be selling in your booth. Images on CD will not be corrected or altered for quality. Please be sure of the quality of your images before sending. Please label your CD with your name/company name. Image CDs will not be returned.

Craft Vendor Criteria & Restrictions

  • The Fair is held rain or shine.
  • Tent space is limited to the first twelve (12) approved craft artisan or non-profit museum shop vendors. All others must provide their own tent.
  • Only one artist or craft artisan per application. Artist partnership applicants are permitted; no more than two artist partners per application and both artists must work on the same completed products.
  • All work must be original and the work of the vendor.
  • Merchandise based upon the copyright or trademark of others (NFL, Disney, Warner Brothers, storybook characters, etc.) is expressly forbidden.
  • Mass produced or imported items (buy-and sell), items made from kits, patterns or commercial molds, flea market or antique items are not permitted.
  • No rubber stamps, bulk items or other arts & crafts supplies are to be offered for sale.
  • No commercial wearing apparel, such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, etc.
  • Pottery - including the design, firing, and finishing - must be primarily the work of the vendor.
  • Candles must be handcrafted; no commercial molds.
  • No items created from preserved wildlife (taxidermy) or composed of materials from endangered species.
  • Vendors may not sell raffle tickets or hold prize drawings for their merchandise or for non-profit fundraising activities.
  • Vendors must provide their own tables, chairs, display units, and any other items necessary for setup and selling their work. Vendors shall be liable for delivery, handling, erection, and removal of their own displays and materials.
  • Vendors must set up by 10:00 am. They are not to break down prior to 5:00 p.m.
  • Vendors must staff their booths from 11:00 am to 5:00 p.m.
  • Parking and traffic will not be permitted in the fair area from one hour before the fair opens until fifteen minutes after the fair closes. All loading and unloading must be planned around these hours and vehicles are to be removed to the vendor parking lot before the fair opens.
  • Vendors may not sublet or apportion space to anyone else.
  • Vendors are not to bring pets to the fair.
  • No alcoholic beverages allowed.
  • No food sales permitted at craft vendor space.
  • No dealers or sales representatives permitted.
  • Electricity is NOT available.
  • All goods shall be in keeping with the fair’s family-oriented environment.
  • Space assignments will be made after the vendor fees (if applicable) have been paid.
  • Booth size is approximately 10’ x 10’.
  • Sales tax collection and payment will be the vendor’s responsibility.
  • The NJ Division of Parks and Forestry retains the right and the responsibility to make final determinations as to the suitability of crafts for inclusion at the State History Fair based on originality, craftsmanship, and acceptability, as well as the right to remove specific items or display booths. Vendors who do not meet the criteria may not be eligible for future fairs.
